Jelani and Jade may no longer be with us physically, but their presence lives on through every smile, every donation, and every hand we lend to a family in need. Meet Jelani

Jelani Amari Downing Batson was born on September 6, 2011, in Midlothian, Virginia — a joyful little boy whose laughter could fill a room.

Though his time with us was brief, Jelani made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was just one year old when he passed, but in that short time, he brought so much love, light, and laughter to the world.

Jelani had a playful spirit and a big personality. He found joy in the simplest things — especially playing with cabinets, crawling on his back, and cuddling up in the arms of those who loved him. He adored Angry Birds, and his bright smile could turn any bad day around. There was something about his giggle that stayed with you, long after the sound faded.

He was deeply loved — by family, by friends, and by everyone who met him.

Jade was a chubby little beauty with the biggest, most beautiful eyes and a presence you couldn’t miss. She had a cry the whole world could hear — strong, bold, and full of life. But just as much as she could cry, she also loved to smile. She was sweet, expressive, and a little nosy — always curious, always watching.

She had a special love for cuddles, and you could often find her with her tongue sticking out, ready to charm the next person in the room. And when she wasn’t keeping everyone on their toes, she was enjoying what she loved most: her beauty rest.
